Tropical Paradise
At just three-hours' drive from Ho Chi Minh City, Phan Thiet and its beach at Mui Ne offer a great break from the hustle and bustle of the big city. The town itself retains plenty of charm, and the colourful harbour, home to Phan Thiet's large fishing fleet, is always a popular sight. The fleet ensures that the restaurants and resorts in town and along Mui Ne beach are able to offer some of the very best seafood in Vietnam.
In recent years, the spectacular 21km stretch of golden sand along Mui Ne has witnessed a transformation as numerous international-standard resorts have opened along the beachfront. Several of these resorts and hotels offer meeting and conferencing facilities but the focus at Phan Thiet - Mui Ne is on leisure pursuits including the award-winning, Nick Faldo designed 18-hole Ocean Dunes golf resort and the comprehensive water sports facilities available along Mui Ne beach.
Less strenuous activities might include a beach barbecue of the town's succulent seafood, easily arranged at your resort, or just strolling along the almost endless stretches of pristine beach with the waves lapping at your feet.
Other attractions include the spectacular rolling sand dunes of Hon Rom, some superb 8th century Cham architecture and of course the beach and sea.
Phan Thiet/Mui Ne is a favourite weekend break for Saigon's expat community, so booking your hotel or resort before you travel is strongly advised. The best time to visit the resort town is between November and June. |
