Watersports

Vietnam, a predominantly coastal country, boasts some of the best beaches in South East Asia, many of them totally unspoilt and free of any commercial development whatsoever. This geographic distinction has its benefits for the visitor, namely well-developed watersports operations up and down the coastline.

Active visitors to Vietnam will enjoy the country's seaside resorts, all the more so when they realize that these destinations are also home to some serious watersports options. Take Phan Thiet and its beach at Mui Ne - a sleepy coastal fishing port? Not likely! Mui Ne is home to the most extreme new sea sport to raise its head in Vietnam: Kite Surfing. Currently there are two major operations in Phan Thiet/Mui Ne offering full-throttle kite and wind surfing facilities catering to the novice to the seasoned professional. There's even a cup competition held each year in March.

Lovers of the deep will find the answer to their dreams in Nha Trang - Vietnam's premier diving destination with more than five PADI certified dive centres operating in the seaside town. The coral here is some of the finest in Asia, rivalling even that of the Red Sea, and with 20 to 30 metre visibility from March to November, Nha Trang has to be a worthy destination for any serious diving enthusiast. And there's more diving to be had, a little further south around Ca Na, where it's rumoured there are wrecks galore to be explored.

As mentioned in the "Cruises" section of this site, Halong Bay in northern Vietnam offers plenty of opportunity for kayak and canoe explorations of the bay's myriad islands and islets. Add to this mix a plethora of stunning (and often deserted) beaches along the entire coastline of the country, and Vietnam soon becomes the destination of choice for watersports enthusiasts of all stripes.

Major watersports and dive centres operating in Vietnam are listed below, and all will be happy to accommodate MICE groups of any size.
