CRUISING
HALONG BAY
A cruise among the magnificent
limestone islands of Halong Bay
has to be one of the highlights
of any visit to Vietnam.
Recognised
as a World Heritage Site by
UNESCO in 1995, Halong Bay is one
of the country's most striking
panoramas, with hundreds of
islands and islets containing
secret grottos, deserted beaches,
tiny fishing villages and
spectacular cliffs.
For MICE groups visitng
Vietnam there are now a number of
options for taking in the
splendour of beautiful Halong
Bay, among them some luxuriously
fitted junks, boats and yachts
offering every comfortand
convenience to guests on board.
The latest boats to ply the
placid waters of Halong include a
classic single-wheeled paddle
steamer, the Emeraude, which can
accommodate the largest groups in
its 37 cabins.
Trips
can be taken for a day, overnight
or extended cruise of two or more
nights on board. Beach barbecues
can be arranged, or leave it to
the expert chefs to prepare
sumptuous seafood banquets eaten
under the stars at the end of a
perfect day's cruising.
During the summer months,
swimming and snorkelling are
favourite activities while
sea-kayaks provide a perfect
opportunity to explore the
islands from close quarters.
